The gaming community is divided between consoles like PlayStation, Xbox, or PC when it comes to gaming platforms. There are several benefits and disadvantages attached to both options, but in general, both do their job, of providing an excellent gaming experience. But one of the biggest advantages PC Gaming has over consoles like PlayStation and Xbox is the customization available for them. One can easily assemble a gaming setup at a fraction of the price as compared to the PlayStation or Xbox setup. But before you go a buy a PC Gaming setup, there are some things you should know beforehand.
Why is PC Gaming a viable alternative to consoles?
The reason for this is pretty simple and straightforward – price. There used to be a time when PC Gaming is only a viable option for those who could afford it. The parts required to build a competitive alternative to the consoles offered by SONY and Microsoft were quite expensive, but that is not the case anymore. The PC Gaming market has become affordable for anyone who wants to build a gaming system. And since the gaming market has seen an increase in PC Gaming, game developers have started to release a complete version of their game for PC users as well.
But how does PC gaming setup fare against consoles?
There are a couple of things everyone interested in getting into PC should keep in mind. While it is pretty easy for one to create an affordable gaming setup, if one really wants to meet the performance standard offered by consoles, they have to shell quite a significant amount to get anywhere close to it. And even after shelling out that much cash, the PC Gaming setup is not guaranteed to last as long as the console in their performance.
Is IT still a good enough investment?
Don’t be disheartened that you have to shell significantly more to have a similar performance to that of the consoles by SONY and Microsoft. One should remember that a PC gaming setup is more than just a setup to play games. It is a full-fledged desktop setup where users can do a ton of work, socialize with friends, use Battlelog, watch movies and TV shows on digital platforms, and much more. Whereas a console is a straightforward gaming tool with which you can only play games. And yes, it might be a bit more expensive to set up a gaming system, but the costs of the games for PC are always lower than their console counterparts.
One more benefit of a PC is that Xbox or PlayStation exclusive games are also available on the PC platform. Take in the example of Halo Series, one of the world’s most popular and played games, with over 81 million copies of the games in the franchise sold till February 2021. Games from the Halo franchise are not available for PlayStation users as the game is Xbox exclusive, but the Halo series is available for PC Gamers with Halo Infinite, the latest upcoming iteration, promising a complete version of the game for PC users.
Everything winds up on PC
One benefit of having a gaming setup is that you can play almost every game, past, present, and upcoming games as well on your PC gaming setup. Every gaming developer, except Nintendo, published their game for a PC audience, and for games that one used to play on their beloved SEGA and ATARI consoles, there are emulators available in PC that one can use to play their childhood games.
Should one get into Gaming now?
There would be no better time for one to take a plunge into PC Gaming than right now. The prices for the Gaming setup have never been lower in recent years, especially with the demand for graphic cards, an essential component in PC gaming, historically low in China, the manufacturing hub of graphic cards. And while one still has to shell a significant sum of money to get a competitive PC Gaming setup, for affordable setups, you cannot find a better time.
Should one just simply buy a setup or build one?
It depends on the money you want to spend, and the time you can afford to invest in building a gaming PC. If you can do thorough research and then order the right components, sometimes from abroad, you should definitely build one. But if you just want a PC Gaming setup and can trust the seller, then buying one would not be a bad idea, though it would be much more expensive than building one.
