Standing Desk Review FlexiSpot

About 9 weeks ago I changed how I was eating and started going to the gym (more on that later). One of the side effects of making these changes is the amount of energy I have. It is hard for me to sit all day at work. I feel like I should be moving and grooving, burning calories instead of sitting behind a desk. For this reason, I decided I wanted to get a standing desk converter so that I wouldn’t be stuck sitting at my desk all day. With a standing desk, I would have the option to stand and work as well as sit and work. Thankfully FlexiSpot heard my plea and offered me a standing desk converter to review. I have had my standing desk not for 12 days.

Office Space Before FlexiSpot Standing Desk Converter

As you can see I have two monitors. I always thought this meant I wasn’t going to be able to use a standing desk converter as I thought there was no way it would hold two monitors. Little did I know there are standing desk converters that are made just for this reason. After looking over the FlexiSpot site and speaking with the representative we decided the best standing desk converter for me was going to be the Classic Rider, which happens to be their best seller, in size 47 inches to accommodate both of my monitors.

My Classic Rider Standing Desk Converter arrived and I thought I was going to have to put it together. Turns out the hardest part was just getting it out of the box, which wasn’t hard at all, just shows you how easy it was to assemble. A co-worker of mine helped me lift the standing desk converter onto my desk. From there I simply snapped on two round covers over the joints, and one piece in the back. That was basically all that was needed to turn my sitting desk into a standing desk.

There is also a keyboard tray option. I say option because while most people would expect and need the keyboard you can actually choose not to use or remove it quite easily. When I first started using my standing desk converter I was sitting on an exercise ball chair and I needed to rest my arms on my desk so I would remove the keyboard tray while sitting and then use it while standing.

To remove or install the keyboard tray there are two levers on each side of the standing desk converter. You push them down to unlock them. Slide the keyboard tray into the slots, and then push the levers up to lock the keyboard tray in place. Easy as 1-2-3. So now my office space looks like this…

Both of my monitors fit well on my FlexiSpot standing desk converter and I even have room for my desk pad and my calculator which is great because when I’m standing I can still use both. It is very easy to go from sitting to standing. There is a lever on the right side that you squeeze and then use a little bit of force to help raise the desk to the desired height.

It takes little effort to change between sitting and standing work modes with just a light squeeze of the hand bars. This allows you to lower the workstation with minimal effort even with the maximum load. When raising the fully-loaded desk (35 lbs is the maximum weight capacity), you need 13 lbs of force to lift it up and only 3 lbs to take it down.

One of my co-workers said he didn’t think he could use one because he was tall. However, I showed him how you can release the lever at many different heights to get the perfect height for you.

I have really been enjoying the ability to stand and work. It does take some getting used to. The first day my lower back was a little sore (which means I needed to strengthen my core) but that has not happened again. I usually stand for about 30 minutes. It is also common for my feet to ache when I stand still so I don’t usually stand still. Often I will put some music on and shift my weight from foot to foot. I have considered purchasing an anti-fatigue mat to help. I’ve had a lot of co-workers that have come by to try out my FlexiSpot standing desk converter and they are all quite impressed with the quality and ease of how it goes up and down. One MAJOR plus in my book is the FlexiSpot standing desk converter is less expensive than some of it’s competitors without losing any quality.
