Ultimate Reset Review
I decided that I didn’t want to post daily, figuring some days I may not have as much to say as others. So this is a working post that I began on 9/9/2012 my first day on the Ultimate Reset by Beachbody. I plan on using this format for each Phase. This is my true and very honest opinion. This will serve as my progress journal as I go through this program. I wanted to share them with you so if you too were thinking about this program hopefully my thoughts and experience can help you decide if it is something you would like tackle.
Phase 1 Day 1 Ultimate Reset
I felt very motivated to start the plan today and while I was making my meals I felt good. Good that I was making healthy food. My daughter helped me make everything and even ate everything with me. She LOVED my salad and for dinner, she sat with me an ate salmon, asparagus, and sweet potato and said it was an awesome dinner. She amazes me with the foods she is willing to try and love at the age of 6.
My husband threw me for a loop wanting to go to the car dealer right at lunchtime. However, I was able to get my salad together, grab my water, and alkalinize (just in case) and was prepared.
I’ve had no issues during this first day other than visiting the bathroom often due to the 112 oz of water I drank. I got in my AM and PM walk, the weather here in South Florida is beautiful and I’m so glad I did. I got in my 10,000 steps today (the first time in a long time.) This is the only exercise other than stretching and very light yoga that is recommended.
The food is taking me some time to prepare, after watching one video review I took the advice of looking up the recipes the day before because some need to marinate or take a while to cook. I’ve prepared my meals (where I could) for Day 2 so I will be ready in the morning and for lunch at work. I am not looking forward to figuring out how I want to bring distilled water to work or how to get in the alkalinize. (I’m private like that).
So far the only thing to note is that the alkalinize is disgusting just as everyone has said. I’m late getting to bed, I’m always behind on the weekends but here is to a great Day 2!
Phase 1 Day 2 Ultimate Reset
I absolutely LOVED the dinner with Day 2 and will be keeping that as a staple for “after” the Ultimate Reset. I did have some hunger issues between lunch and dinner and did not prepare an emergency snack. My biggest issue and complaint right now is the time it takes to prepare a meal. I spent at least 2 hours preparing for the next day, which took up the majority of my night.
Due to the lack of time, I did not get in my evening walk for Day 2.
It also mentions that with this program and detox, you may start going through an emotional cleanse as well. Honestly, I have to say I figured that was BS but MAN I was extremely emotional this morning, I mean more than I ever have been. I had a wonderful talk with my husband about some things and by afternoon I felt refreshed!
Phase 1 Day 3 Ultimate Reset
So far no change in sleep patterns in fact I’m actually waking up more though I’m not sure why. I was tired this morning but a different kind of tired. It wasn’t a “groggy I can’t get up get moving” but a relaxed tired like just staying in bed would feel good and was needed. I’ve been yawning a lot, and because I felt my body needed the rest I did not get up and walk.
I feel thinner, which is usually a side effect of any diet in which you begin to drink a lot of water, but thought it was worth mentioning because it makes me feel better. I was only able to eat half of my breakfast. I made myself eat the spinach as I know it is the best part but only ate half of the eggs and bread. I just felt full and unable to finish.
I didn’t really care all that much for the meals for lunch and dinner. I’m part of a Facebook group and I was told you can replace meals in the plan with ones you care for more provided you replace the whole meal.
I did get my walk in last night, the weather is beautiful and it was nice. I would like to walk faster but my daughter likes to come with me so I figure a light walk is better then no walk and I enjoy the time with my daughter.
Phase 1 Day 4 Ultimate Reset
The weirdest thing for me is that you are not supposed to drink while you eat or drink 30 minutes to an hour after. You are supposed to drink 5-10 mins before you eat. This has to do with the water diluting the digestive juices and acids, and slowing down the digestion. I usually drink a lot when I eat so this is a big change.
I can really start to feel a change in how I feel and my body. It is hard to put into words but I feel more relaxed, more comfortable. I noticed this morning my feet were not aching (My feet have ached for a couple of months now). Overall I just feel more in tune with my body and mind.
Phase 1 Day 5-7 Ultimate Reset
I got behind in journaling my thoughts for a few days, life just got in the way. You can also see I stopped logging my food. I was really hoping to have a solid record of everything I ate but I just didn’t have the time.
So Day 7 is the last day of the first Phase “Reclaim”. I have to say I’m looking forward to the day when I can change my diet some. I have not enjoyed the eating plan as much as I would have hoped. There are several recipes like Miso Soup, Zucchini Cashew Soup, and a few others that I just couldn’t handle. I’m also already tired of salads and the next phase is full of them! There is a meal or two I love and I found I enjoy the “real” oatmeal as compared to the flavored instant oatmeal. I am figuring at the end of this changing my eating to a new plan (not junk food) will seem like a dessert, being able to eat chicken again and maybe some whole grain pasta.
End of Phase 1 Thoughts
Energy
I’ve lost the euphoria of feeling relaxed and calm, meaning I don’t “notice” that I do as I did for a few days. I think though that my new state of relaxed calm is just normal for me now so it is not as noticeable. I am a little disappointed that I didn’t feel this HUGE difference in energy as everyone claimed. Don’t get me wrong I’m not tired and run down so that is gone. I used to sometimes just feel like I could sleep for a day. So I guess there is more energy but just not in the way I was expecting.
Sleep
I think overall I am sleeping better, and more relaxed sleep. I don’t feel tired in the morning and feel ready for the day for the most part.
Food
As I mentioned I’m not enjoying the food as much however I am finding that I feel good about preparing my food. It is hard to explain but something about steaming, stir-frying, and preparing your food clean, vs using the microwave gives me a sense of empowerment over my health.
Motivation
So far what I feel is very motivated. Motivated to finish the plan and set up an eating plan more to my liking with more proteins and such. I have learned that drinking the amount of water I do really seems to help with aches and pains or just feeling limber and healthier when I walk. I currently drink close to a gallon of water a day.
Weight Loss
As for measurements and weight loss, I would like to wait to update that once I’ve finished. However, if you are following me on Fitbit then you already know how I’m doing.
Phase 2 – Release
So here is on to Phase 2 – Release, which removes all dairy and animal products, this phase is strictly fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. It is a detox phase and I’ve had to add another not-so-great tasting drink (3 times a day) but it is not nearly as bad as the first (that I still have to take) and much easier to swallow.
