If you are looking for a LEVEL8 luggage review, I recently tested the LEVEL8 Luminous Textured Check-In 24” suitcase on a cruise and was able to see how it handled packing, rolling, storage, and real travel use. I have never been someone who invested a lot in luggage. For years, we used duffel bags, older suitcases, and whatever we had available for the trip.
This suitcase changed my mind a little.
For this review, I was sent the LEVEL8 Luminous Textured Check-In 24” in navy. I wanted something larger than a carry-on, but not so large that it felt bulky or unnecessary. Since my daughter and I were packing for a four-day cruise, it gave me a good chance to see whether this premium suitcase was easy to pack, easy to handle, and worth using again.

This review is based on how the suitcase performed during real travel, from packing for our cruise to moving through the terminal and storing it in our cabin. I focused on the details that matter most when choosing luggage: space, durability, organization, maneuverability, and whether it felt worth using again.

Why I Chose the LEVEL8 Luminous Textured Check-In 24”
There are different LEVEL8 luggage options, but I chose the Luminous Textured Check-In 24” because it matched the way we were traveling. For a four-day cruise, it offered enough packing space without feeling oversized, which made it a practical choice for both the trip itself and the limited storage space in the cabin.
The navy color also stood out to me. It looked polished without being too flashy, and the textured exterior gave it a sleek look. I liked that it felt more stylish than the older luggage we had been using, but it still looked practical enough for regular travel.
Since I was using it for a cruise, the 24” size worked well. Cruises can be a little different from flying because you are often dealing with crowded terminals, luggage racks, elevators, and small cabin spaces. A suitcase that is easy to roll and easy to store makes a difference.
Plenty of Packing Space
One thing I liked was the two-sided packing layout. The suitcase opens flat with packing space on both sides, which made it easy for my daughter and me to each use one side for our clothes.

A few interior details made the suitcase easier to organize:
- Zippered sections on both sides to help keep clothing contained
- An X-strap compression system to hold items in place
- Two zippered pockets for smaller travel items
- Enough room for a four-day trip without feeling oversized

The layout made packing feel simple and organized, especially compared to older suitcases, where everything ends up shifting around during travel.
The Hard Shell Felt Protective
This was the first suitcase I have owned with a hard exterior, and I ended up liking it more than I expected. The LEVEL8 suitcase has a German-made Makrolon® polycarbonate hard shell, which is designed to be both lightweight and durable.
For me, the biggest benefit was peace of mind. I was bringing home a few glass items from our trip, and I felt better knowing they were inside a hardside suitcase instead of a softer, older bag. Of course, you still need to wrap fragile items carefully, but the harder exterior made the suitcase feel more protective.
The textured design also gave the suitcase a clean, modern look without feeling too delicate for travel. It felt sturdy enough for the kind of trip where luggage is being moved through terminals, stored with other bags, and tucked away between uses.
Easy to Roll and Maneuver
The wheels were my favorite part of this LEVEL8 luggage review.
We traveled with two suitcases on this trip: my older hand-me-down suitcase and the LEVEL8 suitcase. The difference between the two was very noticeable. The LEVEL8 suitcase rolled smoothly and was much easier to control, especially in areas where we needed to move through lines or adjust direction quickly.
The suitcase has four 360° spinner wheels with an anti-shock design. I loved being able to spin and guide the suitcase without fighting with it. It rolled more smoothly than I was used to, and that made travel day feel less stressful.
This is one of those features you may not think much about until you are moving through a busy terminal, hotel lobby, cruise port, or parking area. Once you use luggage that rolls easily, it is hard to go back to one that drags, tips, or feels awkward.

Helpful Handles for Lifting and Moving
Another feature I appreciated was having handles in both vertical and horizontal positions. This made it easier to lift the suitcase onto the bed for packing and unpacking. It also helped when we needed to pick it up quickly to get over a bump, step, or threshold.
The telescopic handle is made from aluminum alloy and slides up and down smoothly. It can be extended to different heights, which is helpful depending on how you are rolling it or who is using it.
The handle did not feel flimsy, and the suitcase felt easy to control while rolling. Between the spinner wheels and the handle, this was much easier to move than the older suitcase we brought along.
TSA-Approved Lock
The LEVEL8 suitcase also includes a TSA-approved combination lock. I liked that the zipper pulls click directly into the lock, so the suitcase cannot simply be unzipped without the combination.

The lock was easy to understand and came with instructions for setting your own combination. I do not always use a suitcase lock, but I like having the option built in instead of needing a separate lock that can get lost.
For checked luggage, cruise travel, hotel storage, or any trip where your suitcase may be out of your hands for part of the day, this is a helpful feature.
Easy to Clean After Travel
Before using this suitcase, I never really thought about “easy to clean” as an important luggage feature. After our cruise, I noticed some marks on the outside of the suitcase. They likely came from normal travel use, being placed with other luggage, or being stored under the bed in the cruise cabin.
I was able to wipe the marks off with a kitchen sponge, which was a nice surprise. The textured hard shell made it simple to clean without a lot of effort.
This is another reason I liked the hardside design. With older fabric luggage, marks and stains can be harder to remove. With this suitcase, a quick wipe was enough to make it look nice again.
What Stood Out Most
The features that stood out most were the ones that made the suitcase easier to use during travel:
- The 360° spinner wheels rolled smoothly and were easy to control
- The hard shell exterior felt sturdy and protective
- The two-sided packing layout kept clothing organized
- The zippered compartments and pockets helped separate smaller items
- The built-in TSA-approved lock was convenient
- The textured exterior wiped clean after the trip
Overall, the LEVEL8 suitcase felt thoughtfully designed. It packed well, moved smoothly, and made travel feel easier.
My Honest Verdict
Overall, this LEVEL8 luggage review comes down to ease of use and quality. The suitcase was simple to pack, easy to handle, and sturdy enough that I felt comfortable using it for items I wanted protected during travel.
The 24” size worked well for our four-day cruise, giving us enough room without feeling oversized. After using it for the trip, I would gladly reach for this LEVEL8 suitcase again.
In addition, there are handles in both the vertical and horizontal positions. This is very helpful when picking up the suitcase and placing it on a bed for packing and unpacking. Or when you need to pick it up quickly off the wheels to get over a bump or up a step. The telescopic handle made from aluminum alloy slides up and down easily and can be extended halfway or full way, whichever way is needed for your travels.
