Do you love escape rooms as much as we do? While they are so much fun and are decently priced if you are paying for just yourself they aren’t economical for a family of five to go all the time. The family and I were excited to take part in a review of this fun and exciting subscription service. We did receive an entire mystery in one package however as a subscriber you will receive a new box each month.
When our boxes arrived my daughter and I sat down to work through the clues, very similar to an escape room. The cool part was while the clues and items are included in your box you will have to think “outside the box” literally. For example, we had to make a phone call and browse Instagram accounts, and the internet for some of our answers.
The great thing is the whole family can participate as everyone thinks and sees things differently and each person adds their own puzzle-solving clues to the mix. Currently, my daughter and I have opened 2 of our boxes. We also managed to figure out a clue in box two while still working on box one. Yeah, we are cool like that ;).
While solving your clues you get stuck the nice thing is there is a community you can join so that others can help or nudge you in the right direction so you don’t remain stuck. Since we have yet to finish our mystery I’m not 100% sure how we know if we have solved all the clues in each box before we go to the second one.
The nice thing is if you are unsure if this is something you want to invest in because you will need to finish out the monthly subscription in order to receive all the boxes to solve your mystery, you have the option of choosing a small subscription to try out the service. At the time of this article, there is a mystery you can choose called “The Cat’s Eye” which is only two boxes. This is a great way to try out the service and see if you want to continue by signing up for one of the longer mysteries such as “I Spy” (the one we received) or “On the Run”. While you can cancel at any time it would be a shame for you to cancel before you solve the mystery! In addition, if you are unsatisfied at any time Dispatch is willing to refund you the most recent box you received.
What I love about the DISPATCH subscription is that I can participate at my leisure. If I’m in the mood for some puzzle solving I can grab my box and begin. If I get tired I can put it away and try again later when my brain is ready. I also love how the whole family can get involved. The fact that you receive one box a month is the perfect timing. I know it is hard once you feel you have solved all the clues to wait for the next box but it is exciting to know that in one month you get to enjoy the excitement again!
