One of my favorite Christmas traditions is making a gingerbread house with my daughter. I can’t recall when we started the tradition maybe when she was around the age of 7. My daughter is very creative and always loved arts and crafts as a child. My daughter is no longer a child having turned 18 this year. So this year I carried on the tradition myself and put together a fun Holiday Hot Cocoa Stand Gingerbread House from Target.
My daughter was the one who informed me about all the unique gingerbread house kits at Target from the cut Hot Cocoa stand above to a Treehouse.
Unique Gingerbread House Kits
I purchased the hot cocoa gingerbread house due to its cute size and I thought it was a very unique gingerbread house. While the final product turned out quite cute I wouldn’t say the process was seamless. Many of the reviews of these cute unique gingerbread house kits found at Target were negative with the main complaint being the icing. I would have to say I agree.
Unlock other gingerbread kits I’ve done in the past this one had you decorate each piece before putting it together. I found that it was easier to decorate it this way since the pieces were flat. Because I had read about the icing I decided to skip it all together and use hot glue to put my unique gingerbread house together. Hot glue had its own challenges but in the end, the hot cocoa stand remained standing.
I did find that the icing gets so soft there was no way it was going to keep the gingerbread house together, so hot glue was the smart choice. This is why it looks like the hot cocoa stand is surrounded by snow piles. The icing melted and dripped downward, creating a unique look of piles of snow. Also, the icing did not come in its own piping bag you had to use your own.
Overall I enjoyed creating my unique gingerbread house but without some patience and a little bit of crafty knowledge, I’m afraid this would have ended up in the trash. I would give it 2.5 out of 5 stars.
