Golden Mushroom Pork Chops Recipe
Colleen
Tender pork chops baked in a creamy golden mushroom gravy made with condensed golden mushroom soup, sautéed onions, garlic, and a splash of cream. This is an easy comfort food dinner inspired by the kind of pork chops your dad used to make, but adjusted so the sauce is creamier and the pork stays tender.

- 4 bone-in or boneless pork chops about ¾ to 1 inch thick
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 can Campbell’s Golden Mushroom Soup
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp salt optional
- ½ tsp dried parsley optional
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms optional but recommended
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Season the pork chops with garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and a light sprinkle of salt.
Sear the pork chops in olive oil or butter over medium-high heat for 2–3 minutes per side. They do not need to be cooked through. This helps lock in flavor.
Remove the pork chops from the pan and place them in a greased baking dish.
Sauté the onion and mushrooms in the same pan for 4–5 minutes, until softened. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
Make the golden mushroom gravy by stirring together the golden mushroom soup, sour cream or heavy cream, milk or beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and parsley.
Pour the sauce over the pork chops. Spread the onions and mushrooms evenly over the top.
Cover tightly with foil and bake for 35–45 minutes, depending on thickness.
Check for doneness. Pork should reach 145°F in the thickest part.
Rest for 5 minutes before serving so the pork stays juicy and tender.
Notes for Tender Pork Chops
- Use ¾ to 1-inch thick pork chops so they do not dry out.
- Covering the dish while baking helps keep the pork tender.
- Heavy cream makes the sauce richer; sour cream gives it a slightly tangy, creamy gravy texture.
- Bone-in pork chops usually stay a little juicier than boneless.
- Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles so the golden mushroom gravy does not go to waste.
