Blood Red Halloween Sangria
This Blood Red Halloween Sangria combines fruity red wine, pomegranate juice, orange liqueur, blood oranges, blackberries, and pomegranate seeds for a dark crimson cocktail perfect for an adults-only Halloween party.
Ingredients
- 1 bottle 750 ml dry red wine, such as Garnacha, Tempranillo, or Pinot Noir
- 2 cups pomegranate juice
- ½ cup orange liqueur
- 2 blood oranges thinly sliced
- 1 cup fresh blackberries
- ½ cup pomegranate seeds
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 cup chilled club soda
- Ice for serving
Instructions
- Add the blood orange slices, blackberries, pomegranate seeds, and cinnamon stick to a large pitcher.
- Pour in the red wine, pomegranate juice, and orange liqueur. Stir gently to combine.
- Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the fruit and cinnamon flavors to infuse. Remove the cinnamon stick after 2 hours to prevent it from overpowering the drink.
- Just before serving, stir in the chilled club soda.
- Fill glasses with ice and pour in the sangria, adding some of the fruit to each glass. Serve immediately.
Notes
Use a vegetable peeler to remove strips of orange peel. Be sure to remove only the orange part of the peel; the white part, called pith, is bitter.
