We’ve all heard of the term “man cave”. It’s meant to be a place for all things manly, a hideaway so to speak. They are usually filled with overstuffed couches, TVs large enough to see from space, video games, maybe even a pool table or a bar, and definitely all things SPORTS. Whatever they include, the point is to keep women out. But as women we have an answer to the man cave – it is the She Shed! What is a She Shed? It’s an old shed that has been transformed into your own personal sanctuary. The concept is to leave stress and responsibility at the door, stepping into a place to call your own and relax and rejuvenate – however briefly. So much more secluded than my bathtub which is the closest thing to relaxation these days.
Though the base of the She Shed is the same, the rest you can design however you like. Readers might enjoy having floor to ceiling shelving for their books with a nice comfy chair positioned by a window. Crafters could use plenty of storage for all manner of supplies as well as a craft table. For me, I love the book idea but I would add a drawing table in the center. Regardless of the style, the She Shed will soon be your favorite place to get away. Since the idea of She Sheds are still pretty new Best Buy took on the project and oh boy would I love to have it in my yard! It would be amazing to have a little “me” time something like this. They took a shed and added fresh paint, a rug, a chaise lounge and table, with plenty of lighting. Of course, being Best Buy, they found several ways to incorporate technology into the ultimate retreat. Of the various fun ways they added a hint of tech to the She Shed, mine would need to Extend the Wi-Fi for endless entertainment. I am a connected kinda gal, the closest I ever come to disconnect is when we take a cruise!
Because some of my favorite ways to unwind involve technology and either my smartphone or tablet, I would definitely need to have a strong signal for streaming my newest binge worthy television show or listening to some tunes. It’s the worst when you’re in the middle of a nail-biting scene and your signal starts buffering. Or you’re dancing to your favorite jam and the signal cuts out! Or barely beat the last level of the game your kids showed you! Those are ways to dampen your zen while relaxing in your She Shed, but there are ways to boost your signal. Consider adding a Wi-Fi range extender inside your home to your existing router to ensure a strong signal reaches your She Shed. Additionally you can elevate your sound quality by installing a Sonos wireless speaker inside your personal retreat.
Of course connection is my number one priority but I also want to make sure my She Shed is pretty darn cool. Here in South Florida it is all about the sun. You can often find us every Sunday watching sports and lounging by our pool. However also every Sunday it rains. Seriously during the hot summer months we usually get a good thunderstorm or shower daily. So when this happens I can take cover in my She Shed and bask in another kind of light!
See the end result and what other products Best Buy used to mesh the She Shed with advanced technology.
