Even though in Florida our Fall is a bit warmer than other parts of the country, I still want all the Autumn luxuries everybody else enjoys. If I can’t have the beautiful leaves the least I can do is wear the boots and get into the fall flavors! Although I don’t go too crazy with it, I love pumpkin pie (my daughter’s favorite) or spice scented candle (my husband’s favorite). Something else I look forward to is “soup weather”. Soup is one of those foods that ranks high on the list of ultimate comforts. When it comes to rainy days or weather that is a bit cooler, I crave soup. Those days remind me of relaxing with my family. Is there anything better than rounding up your crew, popping on your favorite pair of pjs (or better yet stay in them all day) and enjoying some ready-to-eat soup while watching a movie?
I was talking with a husband the other day about how I was craving some potato soup. He on the other hand said tomato soup sounded much better. Food often reflects my mood such as chicken noodle is often something I want when it is cool outside or I’m starting to get the sniffles. Potato soup I often crave when I feel like a night in curled up on the sofa. When my husband and I got on this soup conversation he said a grilled cheese melted to perfection with a bowl of tomato soup hits the spot! I’m a little old fashion preferring potato soup with all the toppings paired with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Progresso has a whole line of simple and delicious ready-to-eat soups in varieties such as Traditional, Light, and Rich & Hearty with each using fresh ingredients. The chicken noodle soup that we always have on hand is from the Traditional Line however the potato Soup I prefer from the Light line. The Traditional flavors include flavors such as Traditional Beef & Vegetable and Traditional Chicken & Wild Rice. The Light line includes favorites such as Light Chicken Noodle and Light Beef Pot Roast. Rich & Hearty has several chowder flavors, Rich & Hearty Chicken Pot Pie, and more. When my husband and I are doing our weekly Walmart shopping on Sunday’s I always take stock of what soups we have in our pantry.
This way I know what soups I may need to purchase. Especially as the weather starts to cool down. Have you heard that South Florida had a cold front last weekend. Our day time temperature’s got all the way down to the mid 80’s. Sorry I couldn’t resist when the weather man called this a cold front I thought to myself what to people think of us Floridians calling such weather a cold front. What he really meant was the weather was going to get cooler at night and the humidity is starting to be a thing of the past, this is actually when I love the weather most here in Florida.
Of course I’ve mentioned some classic soup pairings above but lets think outside the box. Panini’s would be fantastic to dip into any of the soups, especially the chowders. I also love that the soups can be used within recipes to make juicy meatloaf or even slow cooker beef brisket. Whether I’m eating the soup or using it in a recipe, I know I’m putting flavorful food in front of my family that was easy to make.
Which Progresso soup would fit #foodforyourmood?
