Football season has begun, which means Sunday usually consist of TV watching, cheering, and of course eating. One thing I’ve never done is gone to an NFL football game, or really any football game outside of my high school games and one season when my son played. So therefore I’ve never “tailgated”, though I’ve heard some pretty big stories about how far people go to make their tailgating party one to remember.
Instead we usually watch the games from the comfort of our living room. This year we have a brand new sofa, a large flat screen TV, and the NFL Sunday ticket from DirectTV. This means hubby gets to watch the Redskins every week. Hopefully this is their year! While he watches the game I usually am running around doing my usual trying to get everything ready for the coming week. However I do have to stop once and a while to feed everyone.
So thought it would be fun to make some fun “football” themed snacks like this easy and fun snack below:
|Toasty Touchdown Hoagies||
- King’s Hawaiian Mini Sub Rolls
- Turkey lunch meat
- Pepper jack cheese
- Cut the King’s Hawaiian subs into the shape of footballs
- Add turkey (to your liking)
- Add one piece of Pepper jack cheese
- Grill or use a Panini maker to cook sandwich
- Add guacamole after finished cooking
To make it fun add garnishes such as toothpicks that are football themed
My daughter absolutely loved the sandwiches, she thought they were cute and fun! My husband helped me taste test and thought they were pretty good. His were made special without the guacamole. I can’t wait to think of some other fun ideas to spice up our Sunday afternoons. What do you like to make for football days?
