When you hand your phone or tablet to your child, you always expect hope to get it back in the same condition. There’s usually a little voice in our head telling us to be cautious, but we let them play with it anyway. Most of the time they are returned in relatively good shape albeit a bit more smudged or sticky. Unfortunately though, whether they were washing their hands and dropped the device into the sink or having a dance off and it got punched out of somebody’s hand, accidents do happen. Undetectable damage might be “forgotten” when the device is handed back, while others might blame a sibling or a dog. Most of our accidents have been due to a lack of paying attention, we’re always so busy trying to get things done we might miss a step or walk right into somebody causing phones and the like to go flying.
SquareTrade dug a little deeper into cracked screens and wincing faces and found that 89% of families in the US have had their kids damage a device, sometimes more than one! It’s official #KidsBreakStuff! You can head to the SquareTrade Blog to see videos of adorable kids explaining the how’s and why’s of device damage. Videos like this one!
See their reactions as they learn that more than $11 billion dollars are spent by US parents per year fixing laptops, smartphones, and tablets. That’s billion – with a B. You’ll also hear what these kids would rather buy with that much money!
