Do you have a local pharmacy that you go to on a regular basis when you need to fill your prescriptions? I have two…my grocery store (if I’m shopping) and Walgreens. I have been a customer of Walgreens for some time. They seem to be on every corner. There has been some recent disruption for some loyal Walgreens customer because of an issue between Walgreens and Express Script
Express Script in this case is who tells you who and who you can not get your prescriptions from if you want to take part in your health care discount plan. Express Script and Walgreens were unable to come to an agreement and as of Dec 31st Walgreens is no longer in the provider network for Express Script customers.
Customers of Express Script that have been affected by this disagreement are now forced to take their business else where. Many patients under an Express Scripts plan have used Walgreens pharmacies for years and have a personal relationship with their Walgreens pharmacist. In an effort to minimize their disruption and inconvenience, Walgreens unveiled a comprehensive national effort to make this transition as smooth as possible and is doing all it can to help patients continue to use Walgreens when possible, or take care of them as they are forced to leave Walgreens in order to use their in-network coverage.
One of the ways Walgreens has taken action to help their Express Script customers is to offer the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club at a lower price. For $10 a year, a family membership covers everyone in your immediate family, including a spouse, dependents 22 and younger and pets. Individuals may join for $5. Join and receive discount prices on your prescriptions.

Savings on more than 8,000 brand-name and all generic medications. Discounts on flu shots, pet prescriptions, nebulizers and diabetic supplies. Bonuses when you purchase Walgreens brand products and photofinishing services.
It is a shame that customers are forced to change pharmacies because an agreement could not be reached. Customers are seeing little savings and are only being inconvenienced having to shop for a pharmacy that they can trust.
