I realized this past weekend that my daughter is not a shopper. This is a hard pill for me to swallow because I enjoyed spending hours with my mother shopping when I was young. Our plan was simple. We always headed to the back of the store to shop the clearance racks. I never bought an outfit I saw in the store windows, we always created our own from the marked down items.
These days many of our shopping is done online. While I still head to the store for my clothing many other items I prefer to purchase from the comfort of my home. Not to mention I can find great deals if I play my cards right. The more I can save shopping online the better!
I perfect example was when I was shopping for my son’s birthday. I had a long list of items he wanted and at the top of the list was a pair of Nike shoes. This was no surprise to me as they are at the top of every list of his, he is a shoe kinda guy.
Save Shopping Online with Google
Of course he didn’t want the $50 pair of shoes, he wanted the $150 pair of shoes. My mission was to find the best price I could. My first step is to search the shoes and find a store that I’m comfortable purchasing from as well as the cheapest price. An easy way to do this is with Google. Simply put what you are looking for in the search bar and then click the shopping tab.
Savings with Groupon Coupons
The next step once I’ve found this is to see if I can find any discount our coupon codes. I great place to locate coupon codes is with Groupon. They have discounts based on stores and I was able to find Nike Coupon Codes.
Savings with EBates
Another great way to say is to use Ebates. The great thing about Ebates is that it can be used in conjunction with coupon codes to save you even more. Once you sign up I highly recommend you download the browser plugin. With the plugin installed Ebates will pop up when they have an offer. You can save with cashback on your purchase. I’ve sen 1% to 40%. In fact I even received cash back for making purchases on Groupon!
Savings with Sales
Reign in the temptation to compulsive buy and plan ahead and watch for sales. As Mother’s day was approaching I new I wanted a new iPad. Instead of buying it when I first made this decision I watched some of my favorite sites for a sale. Sure enough Best Buy had a great sale just before Mother’s Day and I saved over $100 on my purchase. When holidays are around the corner such as Father’s Day, 4th of July, etc stores have great sales. So if you are looking for a new electronic or sports equipment maybe hold out until Father’s Day. If you are looking for a new grill or cooler they are sure to be on sale around 4th of July.
Savings with Email and Text
I know we all hate getting junk mail but sometimes signing up for a stores email letter will reward you with coupons. Some great examples are Bed Bath and Beyond, Bath and Body Works, Michael’s and more. If you hate to see the emails and only want to view them when you need to shop then filter your email to send to a specific folder by passing your inbox. This way you still get the benefit of the coupon but your inbox won’t be cluttered with newsletters. Another option is to opt in for savings via text messages. This is actually my favorite choice as the coupon is easy to find with a few buttons on my phone.
This is just a small list of ways you can save shopping online and even in the stores. Do you have any great tips on how to save while shopping online? We would love to hear them below!
