Ask my daughter what her favorite meal is and she will reply the same way each time, “Spaghetti and meatballs!” Since my daughter was a toddler her favorite meal has always been pasta with spaghetti sauce. You can just see by the smile on her face.
Usually I end up making dinner for my husband, daughter, and I separately from the boys. They are often at the park or out and about and make their own dinner when they return. Usually leftovers or a box or microwave meal. However when we do make the time to have a family meal we end up having lasagna casserole or Honey’s favorite spaghetti and meatballs.
Often when I’m doing things with the kids something will hit me and I will immediately think, “This is going to be something they will remember when they are older.” Little bits of life frozen in time to bring to the fore front when they are older. Like how my grandfather always ate peanuts when he got home, how my grandmother always had a gift when we came to visit, or how my mother sister and I use to dance around the kitchen when a good song came on. This is exactly how I feel when I spend time making dinner with my daughter.
