I have always loved board games, as a child and as an adult. I remember when I was young how excited I was when my parents would agree to play a game with us. My stepfather loved to play Clue. Games have definitely evolved over the years from new editions to electronic versions. The great thing is that despite the evolution of how we play games the classics have survived the test of time.
Monopoly Plus
As a bona fide tech geek I love that Monopoly has created fun versions using technology like Monopoly Plus for XBox.
MONOPOLY Plus – MONOPOLY Plus brings the world’s favorite family gaming brand to a new level with the original 2D MONOPOLY board as well as a colorful and lively animated 3D version that evolves as you progress in the game. MONOPOLY Plus lets players choose their favorite ‘House Rules’ to customize gameplay. Up to six players will be able to enjoy MONOPOLY Plus online or offline.
We downloaded Monopoly Plus on our XBox 360 and the kids and I enjoyed a fun family game night!
We had the option of choosing the 2D classic board or the 3D living board. We definitely wanted to go with the 3D board and it was a great choice. My son commented on how cool it looked. He loved how his ship would toot and then glide over the board to land on a space. They kids also found it quite hilarious that when you rolled your dice you would knock over players. One of the great things about an electronic version of games like this is that there is no cheating, and no banker because the game does it for you.
I think everyone has their own rules on how to play Monopoly. The great thing is even with MonopolyPlus you can customize the rules. For example we like to use the “pot” or free parking rule. We were able to chose this rule so that we could play just like we would have played with a traditional board game. You can also chose the speed option to help the game along.
Are you wondering who one? I made my predictions at the beginning of the game that Nick would win, because he just seems to win 9 out of 10 times when we play. Drum roll please…….

The Hasbro Game Channel is a destination for family game entertainment on leading consoles, featuring games based on Hasbro’s most popular brands, including MONOPOLY, RISK and TRIVIAL PURSUIT. Starting this fall, the Hasbro Game Channel will be available to download on Xbox One, video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system. All games will also be available for download individually on the Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system.
I can’t wait to try out Trivial Pursuit, it has always been one of my favorite games. Even though no one can beat my husband it is still fun to play!
