Over a year go I had the pleasure of reviewing the Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer. To date this is definitely on my top 5 items I have had the chance to review. I’ve never purchased a washer or dryer before. I’ve always rented and used whatever was supplied to me. So while I thought the Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer looked pretty cool I had no idea what a difference it would make when it came to cutting down on chore time.
It seems any dryer in my past would take two even three cycles to fully dry our clothes. With the Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer I’m able to dry a full large load of laundry in 45-55 minutes. This really makes the chore of doing laundry not as much as a time consuming chore. Not only that but because it is on pedestals it really saves room inside the laundry room. Giving more room to fold the clothes.
The work bench that rest on top of my Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer is an awesome addition. Before it was installed I was always afraid a sock or something small would fall in between the two machines. These machines are not moving, as you can see the room is a little tight. Having a flat and clean surface to lay the clothes on as I fold them right out of the dryer is a huge help. I hate filling up a clothes basket and taking them into another room to fold because I’m always afraid they will wrinkle too fast. With the work bench I can fold right out of the dryer!
Some of the features on the Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer are great time saving tips like the “Quick Wash” this is great if you have a piece of clothing or two that you need to wash and dry quickly. Like lets say a son family member forgets something like, lets say gym clothes, have been stuffed in their backpack all weekend and they need them clean that morning so they can take them to school. I’m sure this never happens but if it did the “Quick Wash” cycle is a great feature to have.
The other great time saving tip (on my part) when it comes to laundry is, if you have a 15 and 12 year old like I do, teach them to do their own laundry. I love the laundry detergent auto dispenser. This really takes the guess work for the kids out of how much to put in. Each of them have their assigned day and because of the size of the Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer they can usually do all their clothes in one load (minus whites of course).
Fan Fresh is a life saver! This is a feature that I use each time I do a load to help keep air flowing in case I can’t get to the laundry right away:
Thanks to the Precision Dispense Ultra dispenser and the FanFresh® option with Dynamic Venting Technology®, these models clean better using less detergent and keep clothes fresh until you’re ready to throw them in the dryer. Not only do clothes remain fresh, they also start drying right in the washer. 12-Hour FanFresh® option with Dynamic Venting Technology® – When selected, a built-in fan automatically activates after the wash cycle is over, tumbling clothes for up to 12 hours so you can wash now and keep clothes fresh until you’re ready to throw them in the dryer later. You can even wash and dry a small load right in the washer* and activate the fan manually to dry out the washer between loads.
So as you can see my Whirlpool Duet Duo is definitely one of my favorite Whirlpool appliances and definitely saves some time. Giving me more time to do things like go to the beach, read a book, or play a game with the kids. Not only does it save time but together the Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer saves over $3,300 in lifetime water and energy costs.
