As a lover of all things technology one thing I love doing is finding fun and unique iPad apps. If you ever browse the iTunes store you will find thousands to chose from and many get lost in the shuffle. This is one reason I love publishing iPad reviews for you here at Shibley Smiles. The past two weeks I’ve been using the Free. This iPad application is a new and unique way to manage and view your email. Due to the this app being such a visual experience I decided to do a quick video of the features. Watch the video below to see the app in action then take a few minutes to read the rest of the review.
New Layout and Visually Please
The Incredimail iPad App is a touch screen experience. With so many people using iPhones, iPads, and tablets to check email it is only fitting that someone create an email client catered to touch screen. Instead of a list of emails, like you would see in a traditional inbox, you receive your emails in a magazine like style with photos and snippets. While many emails hit your inbox with a preselected photo you also have the option of customizing your experience with your own photos. You will see in the photo below there are two different photos, the photo that is associate with the email user (for example the Facebook photo), and another that is associated with the email itself (if your email contains a photo). This is one of my favorite features because with a quick glance I can easily see who has emailed me. I get hundreds of emails a day and I’m checking my email often. It is great to see quickly if I need to open and respond right away or if it can wait until I later time just with a glance.
This feature is a quick and easy way to “peek” at your email. From the screen shown above you can scroll up and down in an email to quickly read the email. If you scroll up you will find a bar in where you can manage your email.
The ability to manage more then one email within this app is an important feature if you are like me with more then one email account. I have several emails personal, blog, and work. I prefer to see all emails in one location instead of going in and out of each email inbox. The Incredimail iPad App has the capability of adding several accounts and having them filter into one inbox. You still have the capability of checking each account separately if you would like. Most major email clients are able to be set up through Incredimail such as Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, etc. However there currently are some limitations on what emails you can add, this is something Incredimail is working hard to integrate.
Link Previews and Built in Web Browser
All links sent to you including photos, videos and articles, are presented as a preview within the email. When you click on a link instead of going out of your email and into your preferred browser it simply opens up within the email. You can hit close and go back to your email. Using the traditional email app with the iPad a link would open Safari and when you were done you would close down the Safari app and open back up your email. Now it is all done right inside your email.
The photo inbox is a fun feature that displays photos recently uploaded to Facebook by your Facebook friends. This is a great way to keep up with family and friends. You can click on the photo to like the photo, share via twitter, copy, or save the image. Incredimail is currently working on integrated additional social media sites for both the photo inbox and sharing options (such as Flickr, Instagram, etc.)
If you like to be a little different and are tired of a plain white background in your email you can choose from a selection of different stationary to add a little spice to your emails. The stationary will default to your selection the next time you compose an email until you clear the selection.
Adding Photos to an Email
Usually when you want to send a photo you attach the photo to your email. With the Incredimail iPad App you can insert a photo (or multiple photos) directly into your email. The photo must be located on your iPad or in your Photo Stream (at this time).
Overall I LOVE the visual layout and feel of the Incredimail iPad App. This is a brand new app and I know it will be expanded upon as people begin to use it and offer suggestions. I currently have two suggestions for future releases. I would love to see an “attachment” option so if I would like to attach more then just a photo such as a document I can. I would also love to see the ability to “file” your email. As a blogger with several incoming emails I have folders for specific kinds of emails and I need to file them and get them out of my inbox and into a folder. If not my inbox would be a hot mess.
As a first run I think Incredimail has done a wonderful job and I especially love the visual aspect of the photos and layout. Here are some of the features that are already in the works (I can’t wait to see Instagram integrated). You can download thefor FREE at iTunes.
Future features to include: POP3 email support, other social platforms like Facebook Twitter and LinkedIn, and more photo integration with Picasa Web, Flickr and Instagram.
