You either are groaning because I’m mentioning back to school or you are saying a silent “thank you” because you can’t wait. I personally love the summer months. I wish I could say I get more time with the kids but since I work full time that isn’t necessarily the case. What I do love is not having to get on my boys about their homework, staying up for last minute projects, or getting everyone up and driving them to school.
One thing I’ve learned is do not, and I mean do not, wait until the last minute to purchase school supplies and apparel. My daughter has to wear a uniform to school. Her uniform is any solid color polo shirts and pants, shorts, jumpers, or skirts that are either navy, khaki, or black. She is very particular about her shirts and will only wear light blue, purple, and pink. These colors go fast, and if I don’t grab them when I see them I have to try to order online. Thankfully this year the minute I saw the uniform shirts hit the stores I bought all that she needed.
The boys have a little more, well really a lot more, flexibility with their clothing. This year both of my boys are in high school. My oldest will be senior and my youngest will be a freshman. The same as both my sister and I when we were in school. This means my youngest son needs a lot of clothes as he is able to switch styles this year. My oldest son needs new clothes because he just keeps getting taller. So this weekend Honey and I hit our favorite store, Kohl’s, to get some shopping done. I can do a little bit of shopping without the boys in tow.
We managed to get a little bit of shopping done for everyone. For my oldest son who needs some new shirts and just a few pairs of shorts we found some really nice shirts by Helix that are just his style. I especially love the light blue one as it will really bring out his blue eyes.
My youngest son needs all new shorts and t-shirts. Last year in middle school he was required to wear shirts with a collar so he is excited to be able to switch to wearing t-shirts. He would prefer to wear gym shorts but we want him to look a little nicer than looking like he just got out of gym and am requiring him to wear nice shorts or jean shorts. He doesn’t really care for jean shorts so he went with some nice cargo shorts.
Last one up is Honey. As I mentioned we already have Honey’s shirts taken care of but I wanted to get her some pants. She wears leggings to school. I didn’t think I was going to find any at Kohl’s but was pleasantly surprised to not only find some but find some that she liked (she is a little picky). At a price of only $6.99 I went ahead and picked up 5 pairs, one for each day. We usually have to buy some again throughout the year as they tend to fade when washed each day. She also LOVES to buy shoes so she picked out a new pair of shoes that she says are PERFECT. One of her favorite stops at Kohl’s is the jewelry clearance isle. She loves earrings, necklaces, and bracelets and can always find something she likes at a great price!
The great thing is not only were we able to pick up back to school clothes we also found school supplies from Office Max. Look for more on our back-to-school supplies take in a future post!
New this year, OfficeMax and Kohl’s department stores are partnering to offer shoppers select school supplies in Kohl’s stores nationwide, making it easy and convenient for parents and students to get what they need this back-to-school season.
