What did you think of when I said that I switched to digital lenses? Were you thinking of a camera? Or maybe something else? Did eye glasses come to mind at all? I had no idea there was such thing as digital lenses for eye glasses until just recently when I was asked if I would like to be fitted for a pair. I’m not going to lie this girl is getting up there in years and I’ve noticed in the past couple of months my vision is just not what it should be. I find myself blinking to get things in focus and driving (at night) is a whole other story.
Truth be told, I have had glasses since I graduated high school and started working behind a desk. However I don’t wear them very often mainly just when my eyes get tired. I did for a while, wear them every day, until I had my daughter and she broke the pair I had. I had no insurance to replace them so I just went without. Then I was contacted about VSP Vision Care to try UNITY Digital Lenses. I was intrigued because I had no idea what a digital lens was.

I couldn’t wait to see the difference with the digital lenses so I booked an appointment with a local eye doctor. My appointment was with 20twenty Eyecare, a VSP Vision Care provider. I can’t say enough good things about this office and doctor. The staff was friendly and the doctor was so informative. The doctor, just by looking at my current glasses, knew I had night time vision issues and had trouble wearing my glasses while at the computer. She was great at explaining each step of the exam with me and why I have these problems. . I was surprised my prescription did not change much at all compared to my last visit. She recommended a UNITY single-vision digital lens with a UNITY anti-glare coating (which my previous glasses did not have).
I used the VSP Vision insurance, which let me tell you is phenomenal. Many of the frames I had to choose from were covered in full and we are talking designer brands. I picked up my new glasses and will be spending the next week or so breaking them in and seeing what I think of the digital lenses. Look for a follow up post coming soon. Check out my new glasses:
