I have several co-workers that have subscription to some type of service that sends them close to either rent or purchase. I always thought this was a fun idea because what woman doesn’t love new clothes? However when I looked into the services recommended to me I found that none of them had close that would fit me. See I’m currently a plus size woman and shopping for clothes is not always the best experience. It is tough to find clothes that fit my body type or look flattering. So what this leaves me with is drab wardrobe that I continue to wear week after week. I have a favorite pair of pants and a few favorite tops but other than that I’m often just wearing what fits.
Dia & Co Personal Stylist
Dia & Co Profile
So how does
Once you have told them this important information they will get more facts from you, your birth date, body type, height, sizes, etc. This gives them an idea of your size and shape. Then you will answer questions more tailored to the type of clothes you like. Are you comfortable showing your arms? your legs? What do you prefer to keep covered? To help Dia & Co understand your style you can select stores you currently like to shop at what you consider your overall style.
Continuing on you tell them what patterns or colors to avoid. This is a great option because I don’t look good in yellow. Next you give them a budget on how much you are willing to spend and how often you want to receive your box. I also like that you can tell them what not to send, for example I don’t like dresses or skirts so I declined these options. However if you would like a dress sent to you, you can tell them the length you prefer your dresses below the knee, above the knee, etc. They even offer jackets/sweaters and accessories. While I was all for the accessories jackets and sweaters can be tricking when living in South Florida so I decided to stay away from them.
Once my profile was filled out and submitted my personal stylist went shopping and filled my Dia & Co box with two outfits and piece of jewelry. The prices for this service is $20 for each box. This is a styling fee that can be used towards purchasing any of the items you received. You have 5 days to try on and decide what you what to keep and what you want to send back. In addition to the $20 towards your purchase if you buy all the items in your box you can take an additional 25% off of your purchase. All of this information is detailed in the list sent to you with your clothing.
Dia & Co Tops Chosen for Me
Dia & Co Bottoms Chosen for Me
I actually received two bottoms I just have not pictured the black slacks that I received here. The black slacks were very comfortable and I wore them to work as well. However they come out of the dryer wrinkled so I have to iron them before I can wear them again (which is a little bit of a hassle). While I believe they were sent to go with the green top above the style didn’t go as well as a pair of slacks I already have so I wore a different shirt with the pants. The shorts pictured above also fit comfortably and I think go very well with the floral top even if I chose not to keep the floral top. In addition to the items show above I did receive a gold necklace as an accessory.
So what are my thoughts about Dia & Co? I like that they cater to plus size women because we deserve the same options that other women have when it comes to clothing. I did receive my box free of charge for the purpose of this review so I am not aware of what the prices of these items would be. However when I filled out my profile the smallest budget was $50-$100. I don’t know if that meant per piece but I suspect so. The truth is this price is a little high for any of the clothing I received. I do not believe I would spend $50 on any of the items. If this is the lowest price for the clothing offered then I would say this service is not the best choice for me.
However in regards to the clothing themselves I believe the stylist did a decent job and I will probably get the most use out of the shorts. I have a hard time finding shorts I like so having someone else do the heavy lifting for me was definitely a plus. I think if you don’t like to shop and this service is within your budget it is a great way to be introduced to new clothing that you may otherwise have passed up and left on the rack at the store.
