I mentioned a week ago that I would be attending the Capital One Banking Reimagined Tour in Miami. So Saturday morning with the guys golfing and my daughter at a friends I took to the road for a trip with my radio as company. The drive was smooth and the weather beautiful as I pulled into the parking lot of the Bayside Marketplace. As I exited my car and made my way towards the Capital One Banking Reimagined Tour the energy was electric. It wasn’t hard to find the tour, just had to follow the music!
Capital One Banking Reimagined Tour
Yes, if you are from the north it is OK to marvel at the beautiful green grass here in South Florida 🙂
First I’m going to talk to you about the fun an interesting activities I participating in at the tour and then I’m going to talk about some amazing and unique ways Capital One is empowering people to feel confident about their relationship with their money through innovative products and human connection.
Once I entered the tour I input my name and email address to get a lanyard that was my passport to re-imagining banking. With my passport in hand I stepped into the tour. My first activity was a survey of sorts to see what I wanted out of life or where I felt my money was well spent. For example do I want to save for a house or car? Do I want to go out with friends or buy a fury friend. Some of the questions were pretty tough but in the end I was not at all surprised my final outcome.
Have a stress-free financial life
That pretty much sums it up, after my share of ups and downs when it comes to finances I feel that I’m in a comfortable place. However knowing that circumstances can always change I am always looking for ways to better my financial situation and save for that rainy day. Next I moved on to the HoloLens experience. If you are a tech geek like me then you will think the 3D imagines surrounding you with the HoloLens on are really cool!
I moved on next to create a video to my future self. Just basically giving myself some advice on my finances and pretty much anything I wanted, this was a private activity. Once the video was done I had the option of emailing it to myself in 6 weeks, 3 months, or 6 months. I thought 3 months sounded like the perfect timing.
Last but not least I got to take a selfie. I selected my background, no surprise it is sunshine and paradise. I received an email copy and a hard copy. This was followed by a swag bag and the opportunity to speak with Capital One about my experience with any questions I had. The tour was fun and I loved all the digital tools I used to see what was important to me when it came to how to prepare for my future. What I found out during the tour was the unique approach Capital One is taking to banking. For many years know with the advance in technology we do more banking via phone, internet, and ATM with little human interaction. Capital One has changed the way of banking with Capital One Cafés.
Capital One Café
Capital One Cafés are about solving their visitor’s financial problems and helping them reach their money goals. At a Capital One Café you can recharge your bank accounts and devices while learning new ways to manage your finances. They have some amazing learning tools.
- Money Coaching – a complimentary three-session program designed to connect your values to your money, get your money under control, plan a path for your future financial goals, and the confidence to make it happen. It’s like life coaching, but for your finances.
- Money Workshops – are a series of complimentary , 1-2 hours long sessions offered at the cafes on topics like “How to Talk Money With Your Honey”, “How to Make Your Golden Years Shine Bright”, “Wise Wedding Planning” and more.
These are just some of the great features. You can do all this or none of this, you can come in for help or a money coaching session, or come in to charge your phone and grab a cup of coffee. Imagine your visit…You are greeted at the door by a Café Ambassador who orders you a cup of coffee on their Apple iWatch. Then instead of meeting you behind a desk you sit with them on a comfortable sofa and they help you set up an account, pay bills, or apply for a credit card.
Additional Capital One Café Features

- Challenge your financial knowledge through Interactive Screens that provide educational money content

I love this new approach to banking and can’t wait to visit a Capital One Café, in fact they just opened one this week here in West Palm Beach. Currently they Capital One has Cafes in Boston, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Richmond, San Francisco and St. Cloud. In addition to the new one here in South Florida they plan on opening one in Seattle later this year. If you are in any of these areas I encourage you to stop by!
