You would be amazed at the uses for baking soda. It is more then a baking item or deodorizer as many think. This month’s #SwitchandSave Challenge was to use baking soda for a small household project or clean up. After browsing my “Household Uses for Baking Soda : Over 100 helpful solutions & tips book I decided to put my grill to the test. To be fair my grill is old and rusty. I don’t remember how old it is but each time I use it I think to myself “I really need to get a new grill!”
My cleaning project was to clean the grate (where the food lies). This was the solution:
Sprinkle dry Arm & Hammer baking soda on a damp brush, scrub as needed, and rinse clean. For tough, greasy stains, scrub with a wire brush and a baking soda paste (3 parts baking soda to 1 part warm water), and rinse thoroughly.
I took my both my grate and ceramic burner cover into the kitchen and applied the solution. I tried first without the baking soda and then with. I can honestly say the grease seemed to come off easier using the baking soda.
While the photos don’t show it as much as I would like you can see the grease in the first photo but the difference in shades of black on the grates. In the second photo the coloring is more even and the grease is gone! It turned out to be a perfect day to clean because hubby decided he wanted shrimp and steak tonight! YUM!
Some other great uses of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda are:
- Safely clean your car lights, chrome, windows, tires, vinyl seats, and floor mats without unwanted scratch marks.
- Easy pool care
- Polish your silverware
- Freshen your sheets
This is just a handful of uses for Arm & Hammer Baking Soda.
